J Carter is as a fun local tavern and restaurant in Murrietta. Fairly large menu and I recommend the seared ahi salad

This place has changed hands in the past few years. Never had a problem until a few months ago. Items on menu weren't available on more than one occasion. Food is very good. Drinks are good. Nice staff. Service is slower than it used to be so that might be one area they can improve.Aug 2019 update: service has improved

Love this place. The food is so good. Try the prime rib sandwich with sweet potatoes. Yummy. With rolls too!

Great service. Food is delicious. The Texas Egg Rolls are great and the Peach Jalepeno Jelly is superb. The French Dip is great too.

A good place to catch the game have a beer and lunch or dinner. The food is consistently decent. The gratuitous rolls and butter is a little too sweet for my taste.

First time eating here. Ordered the sirloin steak. The portions are huge, well worth the price. I ended up having the take home leftovers, which will now be lunch for the next day (and I'm really excited about that). Their garlic mashed potatoes are delicious, the service was friendly and prompt. I went around 615pm on a Sunday and it wasn't very crowded. There were many things on the menu I'd like to go back and try. Also, the Black and Blue Julian Hard Cider is delicious!

Well the place is beautiful first of all. I love the dark setting they have going on. Also, the fries are delicious and they make killer martinis. Now for the bad. The service was extremely slow. They only had one waiter doing everything. She needed help guys! It took way too long to order and get the food. I wouldn't go back just for that reason. Also the burger was very overcooked and sloppy. That is all.

Best restaurant in Murrieta! Food is absolutely to die for. Great service! Cheap, strong drinks. Trivia, open mic, karaoke, live bands, football specials!!!!! Family owned. We LOVE this place!

Was really disappointed with our experience, which is too bad because we've had numerous people recommend this place since we moved to Murrieta. My wife ordered a steak and it was so far beyond well done that when she was cutting it it almost just crumbled. Her side dish was basically a raw vegetable. The band was playing good music, but the volume was so loud we couldn't talk to eachother. Really wanted to like this place, but don't think we'll be back. Too much money for poor quality food and very slow service.

Good food and decent beer selections. Service could have been better. Our waitress seemed disinterested in our time at dinner. Hopefully it was just a one time issue. Would definitely go there to watch a game

So glad to see the new owners getting the place back to the way it was. Service has been amazing and the food is great. Beers are cold and the music and atmosphere is wonderful. So glad I have a place close to home to frequent again

Food was great. Restaurant was cold. The tavern Mac and cheese was amazing. Others in my group had the sliders and the Phillie sandwich. Both excellent! Service was also great.

Totally blown away by the food. No wait, quick service, great live music. This place is killer, a sleeper in Murrieta.

Good food! The rolls are great right out of the oven along with a good size portion dinner salad and entree with 2 sides. My husband and I split the Porterhouse dinner and we're completely satisfied. The only disappointment was that they were out of almost every beer my husband chose because they hadn't ordered properly to allow for a very large Christmas party that they just had. Understand they are also changing owners. Sure hope they keep the same quality food and standards because I know a lot of people who enjoy J. Carter's

I visit this place a lot since I work nearby. I like how the customer service is always excellent and they keep the spot well organized constantly. Prices are affordable and they serve large portions.

Service was good. Food wasn't bad but they do need to learn the definitions of how to cook steaks properly. Lemonade syrup was strong from the fountain. But everything else was tasty. I recommend. I'd actually give 3.5 to 3.75 stars.

Love J Carter's. I have never had a bad meal there . The entertainment, Harmony Road is the best. If you ever have the opportunity to hear them, please do.

Great food, drinks, service and atmosphere! The prime rib is DELICIOUS. I like their wine selection, and my husband loves their mac and cheese. The California pizza is great, as is their sliders. All around good experience, and not too expensive.

Great I love it here only down size is the food takes forever but once you take the first bite you'll forget all about it😍. This place is actually better than some of the top restaurants in the area. Must try ***** BREAD AND BUTTER IS THE BOMB HERE*****

Killer atmosphere good music good times

Service isn't bad. We've been a couple times and it just isn't great. The pizza was burned and light on sauce and toppings, but tasted okay. The appetizer sampler was okay, generic wings/sauce, the Spinach dip was hot underneath, but the top was solid/hard. The people are friendly and I have no complaints about service, but the food quality was lacking. The overall experience left me wanting.

Food was great. Band was Awesome but Need more space if your going to have a band to dance to. Higher booths and lower tables so those in the back can see the band also.

Great Whiskey Tri-Tip! Wife and I split it and it was plenty for us. Yummy!

Service was a bit slow but they were spread fairly thin, so I won't fret about that. That aside, we had two steaks that came out cooked utterly perfect, neither was the same requested doneness. That alone is something I appreciate greatly. I would give 5 stares but the kid's grilled chicken we ordered was probably the driest I've tried. I'll accept that as a one off. Will go again.

This place is hip and trendy but the food is also great! They offer full bar and have live music on the weekend. Only downfall is they tend to take a long time to get your order out, so set aside 1-2 hours especially during lunch. Also the warm bread is the best served with sweet butter 😍.

Worst experience ever.. Started with horrible service. Our server was clueless. Had to get our own refills from the bar twice. Then the food was atrocious. Ribs could not be torn from the bone. Pasta was crunchy like it was right out of box..

Amazing food and excellent service. The salmon was on point, cooked perfect, and the filet was excellent well. Our waitress, Rhiann, was great and all her recommendations are honest and accurate. Even the bus staff was excellent. We will come back again and again.

Nice place with live music on the weekends. Usually have good service drinks and appetizers. However, my last visit was not so well. The drinks were okay, the usual appetizer calamari was different. This time it was long strips amongst a "fluffy" presentation and not as good. The server was a bit slow and though my drink got refilled he completely ignored my boyfriend. They did not remove plates when we finished and asked them to. They weren't even cleaning the tables when people left. They were busy that evening but in my opinion not to busy to give attention to customers and cleaning.

The service was very bad. There were only 4 of us in our party. The place was hardly packed. It took 40 minutes to get our appetizers. Two of us got waters and the waitress said she was going to come back. And take our order. Did not see her for another 15 minutes. I asked her If I could speak with a manager. Apparently, there was no communication between any of them. He came over to the table and picked up the menus before we had a chance to order. He was under the impression we had ordered. He also was not familiar with the menu. When our food finally arrived, I was missing an entree which was another delay. The food was advertised barbecued but it was not. Again, we had a long wait. I knew this because I observed other people coming in after us and leaving before us. By the time we got our check, we had been sitting there for 2 1/2 hours. I would never recommend this place.

Friendly staff! We had a mid day lunch- chili was great as per my husband! I had the fish tacos-fish was good, cod and calamari and all the fixings! Definitely a to go place for us!

Great food. Service was not bad. Smaller place but nice. Beer was a little warm for 2 of the 5 different ones we had between our table.

We really enjoy eating here. They have a large restaurant menu and a good selection of beverages as well. Wish their wine list was a little more extensive, but the atmosphere is very friendly and enjoyable. Clean, fast, friendly service. You will eat here for 15 to $20 per plate plus drinks. Excellent place also if you want to share a meal with your significant other. This is a nice date night, or cozy dinner get away place. Come early because the weight can get a bit long. After dinner folks just like to hang out and enjoy their drinks, dessert, and the atmosphere.

New to town and was looking for something different than the chain restaurants, J. Carter's Tavern came through. It was great!!! Will be back.

I stopped by to try it out over the weekend with my family and we enjoyed it all around.

I have been a fan of J Carter's ever since moving into the Temecula Valley area. The prime rib was to perfection however the side dishes were dry and and did not have that freshness that you would expect I hope it was just a one-time thing because it is one of the best places here in the area that offers good prime rib.
